On October 7, 2023, Israel tragically let its guard down.
The result: the greatest number of Jews killed in one day since the Holocaust. As of the afternoon of October 8, 2023, that number of dead is at least 800, though there will likely be higher by the time you’re reading this. Over 2,200 have been injured, and likely over 150 taken captive in Gaza. Their fates are unclear.
Almost as soon as word got out that this massacre was being perpetrated in Israel, many rejoiced. From the Middle East, to Europe, to Australia, to right here in Canada, there was celebration over the brutal slaughter of Jews.
On Sunday, in Mississauga, and elsewhere in the GTA, massive anti-Israel celebrations, with people flying Palestinian flags and honking their horns, cheered the slaughter. Another massive rally is planned in Nathan Phillips Square today, Monday October 9.
Many other politicians have thankfully tweeted similar sentiments.
Canadians, Ontarians, and Torontonians, who have lived in Canada their entire lives, or who have arrived as the children of immigrants, or immigrants themselves, are cheering-on the sadistic slaughter of Jews. They are not doing it anonymously. They are proudly proclaiming with whom they stand, publicly, on the streets, online, and on TV.
Sentiments laid bare
Yesterday, over 800 Israeli Jews were executed at point-blank range, shot, stabbed, or throats slit.
Their slaughter is being celebrated.
Over 150 Jewish soldiers, men, women, infirm senior citizens, caregivers, toddlers, and babies, were kidnapped, taken hostage by terrorists into Gaza.
Their kidnapping is being celebrated.
260 young Israelis were massacred, mowed down by bullets, attending a music festival.
Their murder is being celebrated.
Teenagers and young women were raped.
Their rape is being celebrated.
Toddlers are being held, without their parents, by terrorists who are taunting them as they cry for their mothers.
Their despair is being celebrated.
Parents, children, brothers, and sisters, are hopelessly searching for their loved ones who are missing, or murdered.
Their trauma is being celebrated.
Video is circulating of Hamas fighters murdering and decapitating civilians with instruments as blunt as shovels.
Their decapitation is being celebrated.
A nation is in mourning.
Their loss is being celebrated.
Our neighbours
Years ago, Golda Meir quipped,
“If the Palestinians put down their weapons, there would be peace. If Israel put down their weapons, there would be no more Israel.”
on Saturday, sadly, Israel put down its weapons. There are now hundreds dead, missing, kidnapped, and thousands injured.
Hundreds, if not thousands, are expected to attend these pro-Hamas rallies. And let’s be clear: Hamas is a recognized terror entity. Those attendees are proud to show their faces, in Downtown Toronto, and in other major cities. They have been, and will be, celebrating slaughter, kidnapping, the taunting of children, rape, and the trauma of others. They are our neighbours, our friends, our co-workers, and acquaintances. We will now know what they believe and where they stand.
The face of the conflict, and the nature of the enemy is laid bare. The brutality is being celebrated in Toronto. For shame.
***RALLY TONIGHT***
For those who rather celebrate life, there is an important rally in support of Israel this evening, October 9, 2023 at 7pm at Mel Lastman Square hosting by UJA. It is important that we are there to show that we are one, and we are not going anywhere.
